Comerica Bank IT Infrastructure

Project name: Comerica Bank IT Infrastructure Name and address of Client: 6260 E. Mockingbird Lane, Dallas TX 75214 Client Contact Person: Ms. Jocelyn McMurray, VP IT, Tel: 214 543 4909 Period of contract: 18 months Description of services provided:

GECII was contracted by Comerica Bank Texas to customize a Lotus Notes system for their nationwide IT infrastructure, implement it and commission it. IBM provided the hardware and software for the entire project. GECII studied and analyzed traffic requirements at more than 900 branch bank locations and used this data to develop an ideal architecture for the applications that Comerica Bank wanted to implement. The corporate network was reengineered to facilitate broadband communications and fit the above architecture.

Key applications included mortgage processing from multiple locations for a single file, email management, ATM system management and document automation. GECII redesigned the incumbent mail system based on cc: Mail and merged it into the new Lotus Notes Mail to run another internal module.

GECII planned the installation and managed the rollout of Lotus Notes to Microsoft Exchange Server installation for the Bank. This included the deployment of client software to over 15000 users and the deployment and activation of servers to 30 sites throughout the United States. This also included replacement of the legacy Notes applications.

The Exchange Server network was originally built as a 100 user dual server pilot network and then, due to the bank’s business requirements, was flash-cut to all users over a holiday weekend. In addition to providing training to each bank and two Comerica service centers, GECII maintained “laptop triage” stations in 10 cities to update roaming laptop computers, as well as a user “help line” to smooth the transition.
